Spirit of Manitou Sculpture

Spirit of Manitou Sculpture by Jodie Bliss

This new piece is funded by the Manitou Springs Urban Renewal Authority’s $250,000 commitment to public art within the Urban Overlay Zone, which stretches from the gateway entrance to Manitou Springs to the intersection of Manitou Avenue and US Highway 24.

This represents a small piece of the MSURA’s million dollar plus investment in the  Avenue Action project, which has recently completed flood mitigation, road improvements and expansions to multimodal access to the area.

Manitou Made Website Project Kicks Off

Led by the Manitou Springs Creative District (MSCD) in partnership with the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau & Office of Economic Development, will prominently feature locally-made items that are crafted, designed, prepared, source, brewed, or experienced only in the greater Manitou Springs region. Today, the organizations kick off the project by announcing the selection of their web development partner in Neon Pig Creative.

Everything about this project seeks to create maximum local economic impact. “When the Arts Council installed ‘Koyuk’ as part of their ‘Art on the Avenue’ program, the public fell in love with this gentle presence,” said Creative District interim recovery director/executive director Becca Sickbert. “We’re delighted to welcome back the bear to Manitou Avenue this week!”
